Applying for your UK passport in Iran
Documents Necessary for the Issue/Renewal of a British Passport in Iran: For Applicants over 16 years of age:
- Yellow Form (C1) available from Reception of British Embassy. Please read the enclosed information sheet . The back section (section 12) must be filled out and signed by a professional person (Doctor,Lawyer,Notary Public etc) who has known the applicant for three/ four years , not a family member .The form should be completed by the applicant and signed inside the yellow box on the last page. Any part of the signature outside the box will render the application void.
- 1,790,000 Rials, Cash.
- Original Iranian Birth Certificate (Shenasnameh) plus translation (for 1st time application in Tehran ) .
- Original British Birth Certificate OR Certificate of Naturalisation/ Registration.
- Two 4.5x3.5cm colour passport photos ( WITH A WHITE BACKGROUND), one of which has been endorsed on the back by the person who filled out section 12 of the application form.
- Previous British Passport
Documents Necessary for the Issue/Renewal of a British Passport in Iran: For a child under 16 years of age:
- Pink form (C2) available from Reception of British Embassy. Please read the enclosed information sheet. The back section (section 9) must be filled out and signed by a professional person (Doctor, Lawyer, Engineer, etc..) who has known the applicant/ applicants’ parents for a minimum of three/four years, not a family member. The form should be completed by the parent and signed inside the relevant box on the last page. Any part of the signature outside the box will render the application void.
- 1,140,000 Rials, Cash.
- Original Iranian Birth Certificate (Shenasnameh) plus translation (for first time applications in Tehran)
- Original British Birth Certificate and parents proof of Nationality .
- Previous British Passport if applicable .
- Two 4.5x3.5cm colour passport photos, one of which has been endorsed on the back by the person who filled out section 9 of the application form.
- Both parents’ original Iranian Birth Certificates (shenasnameh) and translations (for 1st time applications).
- Parent’s Original Marriage Certificate + translation (for 1st time applications).
- Passport on which the applicant originally travelled to Iran. (If available).
Please Note:
- The issuing process normally takes between 7-10 days.
- Applications to be made in person at the Consular Section, British Embassy, 198, Ferdowsi Avenue, Tehran, Iran. Sunday –Thursday between 0830 and 1330.
- Applications are not accepted by post.
- No previous appointment necessary.
- With effect 1 April 2007, all first time applicants (and some other categories) for a British passport will now be interviewed in person by a Consular official. These interviews will be held in the Consular Section of the Embassy.
- You may be asked to provide additional documentation.
- All original documents will be returned to the applicant upon issue of passport.
- Payment is accepted in local currency only. (Rials)
