A key role of the Ambassador is to represent the views of the British Government to Iranian Ministers and government officials.

 

The Ambassador

The British Ambassador directs the work of the Embassy. The Ambassador is the representative of the UK in Iran. A key role is representing the views of the British Government to Iranian Ministers and government officials.
 

Political Section

The political section promotes bilateral political relations between Britain and Iran. It talks to the Iranian government on foreign policy issues where there are shared interests, including Iraq, Afghanistan and regional security.
 

Commercial Section

The Commercial Section is responsible for representing UK interests in Iran on all aspects of trade and trade policy. The Commercial Section provides advice on the Iranian market to British Companies. 
 

Consular Section

The British Consul looks after the interests of British Nationals visiting, or living in Iran. The Consular Section helps British Nationals in Iran who get into difficulties, for example they have fallen ill or have been arrested. They process passport applications, register births and deaths of British nationals, and provide notarial services. A Duty Officer is available to deal with British nationals who need emergency assistance outside normal hours, seven days a week, throughout the year. If your enquiry relates to visas see below. Visa Section

The Visa Section issues more than 25,000 entry visa per year to Iranians wishing to travel to the UK. The Section provides advice on all aspects of UK visa and immigration requirement. It aims to treat all visa applicants with respect, and allow genuine travellers to get visas as easily and painlessly as possible.
 

Press &Public Affairs

The Press & Public Affairs Section deals with public enquiries about Britain and media inquire. It issues press releases and other information about the United Kingdom. It seeks to project a positive image of Britain to the Iranian people through the Iranian media. The Head of the section also acts as the Embassy's public spokesperson.
